For some people, especially the elderly and those who are disabled, even simple tasks such as going up and down the stairs can be tiresome and, oftentimes, nearly impossible. It is not just the energy required either as many people can be unsteady on their feet or the possibility of actually falling down the stairs is a very real one to a great deal of people.
This is why a lot of homeowners who suffer from limited mobility opt to install a disabled stair lift. These are essentially chairs that you sit in and they take you both up and down your stairs meaning that you do not need to have the full use of your legs to do so. Indeed, while some people look at them and believe that they will cost an extortionate amount; they can, and will, actually save you money. How? Well if you have recently suffered from limited mobility and your bedroom/bathroom etc… are all located upstairs in your home then it can be greatly expensive in order to change your house around. Having a bathroom installed downstairs or having to give up one of the rooms on the bottom floor to redesign as a bedroom comes at a cost however with a disabled stair lift you can forgo all of this expensive redecoration and moving around whilst still having the use of the upstairs facilities.
In fact, many people will find that they are actually entitled to a grant that can go towards the purchase and installation of the device in your home. If your local council decides that your mobility is bad enough to warrant a stair lift and that your quality of life will be improved by it then there is every possibility that you could receive money towards getting the device in your home.
