However, just because your baby has suffered an injury when they were being born doesn’t mean that there is not anything you can do about it. It doesn’t matter how major or minor this injury is; the fact is that it should never have happened and you should be entitled to compensation or at least bringing the matter to the attention of the proper medical authorities.

Some of the more serious injuries that can occur are cerebral palsy that can sometimes occur (although it is rare) as a result of serious medical negligence on the part of the hospital staff when the child is being born. The condition has an adverse effect on the life of the child and, indeed, on the parents themselves so it is only natural that you should be looking for a form of compensation to make up for the negligence that has happened.

Other injuries can extend to fractures in the arm or legs due to badly handled procedures during the birth itself and even things such as eye infections can be used as a basis for a claim. In fact, the injury itself doesn’t even have to be inflicted on the newborn baby as any injuries that the mother has picked up can also be used to put in a claim for medical negligence and this can cover infections or unnecessary vaginal tears.
